Cat Tales 2003 Lady AllisonLady Allison was barely a kitten herself and pregnant when I started to feed her. She had two kittens. She hissed and spat at me, but I talked softly to her and never tried to touch her. She became pregnant again and I fed her throughout the pregnancy. Finally, I touched her softly. After the babies were born I continued to feed her and the kittens. Each night as I picked up food dishes I told her how beautiful she and the kittens were. By that time I was able to pick her up. She is very protective of me. Thank you for helping with Allison so she doesn't have to have more kittens, she is a playful and loving cat. J.M., November 2003
LuckyThank you very much for your help!!! Lucky is doing great and we decided to keep him. We couldn't have done it without your help. S.R., November 2003
Mama CatAfter 3-4 years, I finally captured a mama cat and her 8-week old kitten. Thank you for helping to get her spayed. L.K., November 2003
B.B. KingWe recently recovered two little kittens that were brothers. They were so afraid and one was very ill. The Stray Cat Alliance made it possible for our sick little, B.B. King to get the medical help he needed. Now, the boys are running through the house and playing together which is music to our ears. We now have 30 cats who have become a part of our family. We are so thankful for the help Stray Cat Alliance has given us with food, spay and neutering and doctor's visits and late night nursing care. R., November 2003
KittensThank you for your help with the kittens. M.S., November 2003
Abandoned KittenI found a kitten abandoned at about 4-weeks old. I could not afford to get my cat fixed on my limited budget. The Stray Cat Alliance was able to help me. Thank you very much, it was greatly appreciated. M.N., November 2003
ChipChip became sick after his mother died. Stray Cat Alliance helped me get him to the vet and found he had distemper, but was able to keep him alive for three days before he died. I was thankful for being able to have him a little longer. Thank you for trying to help him. S.B., January 2003
TinkerI began feeding a cat that was left behind when a neighbor's home was sold. I brought Tinker to the Eugene Animal Hospital to be spayed. We later discovered she had had 3 kittens before she was spayed that survived on their own while she recuperated--they were reunited. We are very happy that Tinker will never have any more kittens. She was nothing but skin and bones...she is gradually gaining weight. I was so happy to have $11.00 paid by the Stray Cat Alliance. We're retired, so it helped. Thank you. J and H.S., June 2003
RomeoWhen the lady across the street couldn't afford to spay her kitty the boys (male cats) came calling on her. I fed them and noticed one had blood coming from his nose. I was referred to Stray Cat Alliance and they came to Romeo's rescue (I have NOOOO money). The vet determined that Romeo was positive for feline leukemia and we put him down. He was a charming, loving, sweet boy. I knew him 2 months. Thank you for all of your great, big caring heart and help. L.S., December 2003
FrankFrank, our cat, was an alley cat. We decided to take him in and give him love. He is a gentle cat and he is friendly to the other house cats. He laid in my lap for the first time last night. It was quite a moment for the both of us. Stray Cat Alliance was a great help! Only a phone call away, and a gentle voice whose tone had "I love my own cats dearly" was on the other line and she understood immediately that Frank and I had a few problems and she knew so much about how to help. Frank had a fractured paw. Stray Cat Alliance offered to pay for Frank to have an exam and we found out that Frank was gonna be OK, and we're all very relieved. Thank you Stray Cat Alliance for your financial and emotional support. F. and J. H., December 2003
Captain JackMy daughter received Captain Jack as a birthday gift. I was planning on having him neutered in December. Being on a very limited income, it was difficult to save the money. Before his appointment he got out of the house and was attacked by some animal. He developed a massive ear infection. After several days of trying on my own, I decided that a trip to Cat Care was Jack's only chance. Unfortunately, I had to use the money for his neuter to save his life. Jack recovered nicely, but I knew he still needed to be neutered. I used some Christmas money and received help from friends but still needed more for the bill. Cat Care suggested asking Stray Cat Alliance for help. It was wonderful getting that last bit of help needed to pay our bill in full. Thank you so much for your help. P.A., December 2003
JacobSeveral months back I met Jacob. It was an immediate fact that he had been a house cat dumped to fend for himself. I found he had severe eating disorders. Through Stray Cat Alliance, I was given free services at a local vet. Because of gentle, loving and dedicated care of the needs to be met, the gentle hearts of Stray Cat Alliance, I could take Jacob free of charge to me. Jacob had already been neutered. I feed him daily and give him his loving because he always comes for that before he tries to eat. I must say again: Thank you so very much Stray Cat Alliance for all you do for so many cats. You are truly doing a wonderful job as well as doing God's work. You are adding jewels to your crown indeed. L.W., December 2003
CatsThank you for all your help with my cats over the years. D.R., October 2003
Jacob Thank you very much, SCA, for all you do. Jacob was a beautiful orange stray whom we adopted. He had an eating disorder from an infection in his neck glands. They gave him 3 or 4 days to live. But he made it and Jacob is so full of love it amazes me! You are doing God’s work taking care of the beautiful creatures he made for mankind.

Gedora & Dibby Without help from SCA we could never have been able to afford to neuter 2 cats. Thanks so much.

Captain Jack Captain Jack was attacked by another cat. I cleaned his head wounds but after a few days I knew something was wrong. He had a massive ear infection. I had money to pay for that at Catcare, but not to pay for his shots and neuter. It was wonderful getting that last big of help needed to pay our bill in full. Thank you so much for your help.

Lady Allison (front) & Friends She was a feral kitty and had a litter. I began to get a little closer to her and eventually she let me touch her and her babies. I found homes for all of the babies. Thank you for helping me with Allison so she doesn’t have to have more kittens. She is a playful and happy, loving cat.

Charlie "Charlie" I have 8 cats at my place (all but 2 strays) 2 of which need homes. Charlie needs a home - he showed up at my work and needed to be fixed. Alliance has also helped with Sherbet who was found at Doris Ranch by my son. We have now 8 cats and what with flea medicine, vet care, food and litter, costs add up. We are grateful to SCA for helping us!

Lyrie "Lyrie" is a word that means happiness, which is what this kitty is now that he found a new home. He was found abandoned and living under a vacant house in the Roosevelt area. I took him in an contacted the SCA. We took him in to be neutered and looked over. I happened to mention him to a friend who immediately adopted him - he now has much love thanks to SCA!

Four-Legged Angels Thank you SCA. You do sooooo much for our feline frends on such a large scale, but also more directly and intimately, for my babies who would still be breeding, scared, hungry and lonely for the most part if it were not for you. your aid, assistance, advice, and care. Our four-legged Angels here in Eugene have no idea how extremely lucky they are that SCA is here. Thanks for food, and s/n help!

Doc Holliday "Doc Holliday" Doc is very grateful for you help; without your funding he would still be in the house. Doc's sister, Roxy, is next to be fiixed. He can' wait until they can both play in the backyard with shado and Ritz (small family dogs) like one big happy family! We are now 4 cats and 3 dogs. Without your generosity the kitties would not be able to play outside! Thank you.

Katy-Kat Katy-Kat showed up at our home around the end of July, 03. We could tell she had recently had kittens but we had no way of telling where she cam from. Being on a limited income and having 2 dogs, 3 cats, 1 bird, and fish already, we couldn't afford to get her fixed. But thanks to SCA, Katy-Kat was able to get the medical attention she needed. And, an older gentleman adopted her and they adore each other!

Hungry Stray Cats Thank you so much for your help. Moving to oregon and finding no job is kind of rough, but seeing stray cats hungry and cold is tough too! Your help in making sure this sweet cat of ours didn't leave little stray kittens starving will make a difference. I will be sure to let people know how loving and helpful your organization has been.

The Mueller Cats We cannot thank Stray Cat Alliance enough for providing help for us to spay the three kittens and the mama cat that came to us. We contacted everywhere to see about reduced rates for litters and when we called SCA they stepped in to bridge the financial gap we had and we were able to have all the females fixed. The male will be fixed later. Thanks you again for providing such a fast help.

Georgie Georgie got pregnant and I couldn't afford to take care of the babies (expecting myself). SCA saved the day and paid the majority of the bill for my cat to get fixed and all of the bill for the kittens to get adopted. It was a great thing for the kittens to find a better home and for my family of 2 kids, one expected, 2 cats, a single mom on medical leave. Thank you very much, and I hope to return the love some day.

Skunk Skunk had to have his eye removed because it was beyond saving. Q street Animal Hospital discounted the price about 400%! He seems to be healing well. His eye was punctured and they used his surgery as a learning tool for another vet so they did not charge for his surgery! If they had I would have had to put him down.....Thank you and Q Street for helping me save his life. I wish there were more vets out there with the compassion that Q Street gave. Thanks again!

Gurney Halleck "A few months ago, a mangy orange and white tomcat began coming around my house and getting in to fights with my neutered male cat and other cats that I care for. He was coming mainly for food. As the weather got warmer he looked worse and worse. Finally one very hot day, he half walked, half staggered toward me and rolled over on my feet and began to purr loudly. I picked him up and found that he was emaciated, had runny eyes; his jaw dripped pus and he smelled horrible. He had fleas, wroms and numerous small wounds from fighting. I named him Gurney Halleck after the warrior poet/troubadour character in the Dune books. Stray Cat Alliance was able to help me get him neutered and give him shots. He has staked out territory on the front steps and his health has improved. Gurney knows he can stop wandering and that some humans really do care.

Gorgeous Gorgeous had 9 kittens this summer and was pregnant again when we took her to Q Street Animal Hospital and got her fixed. Two of her kittens were girls which have been fixed by FCCO along with a lactating mother from a previous litter of Gorgeous. The new mother is now bringing her kittens to us which we hope to get fixed. Thank you for your support.

Hopper This little cat was found on a neighbor's porch in the pouring rain. They brought her over and I took her immediately. She is a Manx, no tail at all and very crippled from bad hips, but she can hop like crazy. A sweet, purring friend. Thanks for the support in spaying.

Lily The SCA has assisted us and cats on numerous occasions, from spaying/neutering many found strays, food, shots for strays to be placed into home, as well as medical assistance. One cat that we found hit by a car, Lily, was provided medical aid to help ease her suffering before she passed. In a community where support is hard to find, the SCA and other local groups are "Angels" in assisting these cats in having a better life. Without them, there would be greater suffering for the animals. Much gratitude for all the help and donations. The SCA provided different aspects of assistance for our stray cat population numbering near the 30's. Providing spays/neuters, food, and any medical assistance necessary, we were able to control the population, and place over 24 cats into homes. Also the donations accepted for cats place could only go to the best organization the SCA.

Else Else cam to my patio one morning. I loved her at once. Got "Advantage" for fleas, gave her a bath and she became the "love of our lives." My son, who is handicapped, immediately fell in love with her. She has adopted us and I think she is a happy cat, especially at evening when she gets her brushing. Thank, Alliance. We didn't have the money to spay her and you were there. No roaming kittens, thanks to you.

Country Cats Living in the country leaves you wide open for strays, especially pregnant strays. Once the kittens arrive, you are well on your way to a problem with no resources to remedy the situaltion, short of shooting them - not acceptable!!! We are grateful for you assistance and so are the cats I'm sure. After the fact of course. Cats are healthy and happy now.

Thanks to the Stray Cat Alliance we had her neutererd and she recuperated nicely from that. Now after two months she is in charge of the household. Her wounds are healed and her eyes have cleared and she can see. She leads my husband to the pantry and points to the cat food can when she's hungry. The other cats have accepted her. We love her and are so happy the vet was more optimistic than we were. And we're so grateful to Deanna and the Stray Cat Alliance.
